The Future is Bright at Uber!
I had the privilege of attending Dara Khosrowshahi’s ( Uber’s CEO ) keynote panel at the annual ICON - Israel Collaboration Network last week. Hosted by Lior Ron ( Head of Uber Freight ), the keynote was filled with inspiring conversations on everything from Dara’s roots in Iran to his journey at Uber and to the future of what Uber is building.
All of our growth happened in an accidental way, if you look at our scope right now, it never was about ride share, it was on-demand transportation, with real time inventory, with a marketplace built around it so that anyone looking for any type of transportation at any time has access to the vehicle they need, whether it's a bike or a truck. We label the inventory and meet the demand to anywhere in the world. This is the system we're building.
Dara Khosrowshahi on Uber’s mission
Coming off of a stellar quarter where Uber has just achieved its first-ever positive free cash flow, Dara acknowledged that the company’s “hardcore” effort to rein in costs is starting to pay off, even in the midst of a cooling economy.
Attributing to the success in reaching such a profitability milestone, Dara cited Uber’s innovations on all fronts, which are driven by Uber’s mission of building on-demand transportation/delivery systems. This mission is exactly what has led to some of the new growth areas such as Uber Freight.
As a co-investor with Uber in Serve Robotics, an autonomous food delivery robot, Good AI cannot be more excited about advancing Uber’s mission of transforming the transportation system. The future is indeed very bright!
